Small Space Design Solutions: Staircases and More

As an advocate of the tiny house movement and a lover of interior design, I love seeing design ideas for small spaces. I especially love the innovative ideas surrounding stairways that are made for small areas – from antique ladders to modern metal spirals, I love them all. Over the years, I have lived in countless tiny, urban flats, and I have decorated them all. In this blog, I hope to share what I have learned over the years. I hope to show you how to maximise your space. Although I plan to focus on staircases, I may include posts that focus on other aspects of designing and decorating small spaces as well, and I hope you enjoy and learn from them all. Cheers!

Issues With Your Tow Truck Winch? Signs It's Time For A Replacement

by Willie Caldwell

If you own a tow truck, you need your equipment to be in top shape at all times. This is especially true where your tow winch is concerned. Problems with the tow winch can have devastating consequences for your business. If your tow winch has been causing problems, it might be time for a replacement. If you're sure whether you need to invest in a replacement yet, read the list provided below. If you're dealing with any of the situations described below, then now is the time to invest in a new tow truck winch

Your Winch Is One-Directional

If your winch is functioning properly, the cable should move in two directions. With the flip of the lever, your winch cable should extend to secure the vehicle, then retract to bring the vehicle into position. If your winch is unable to extend or retract the cable, there's a chance that the solenoid has malfunctioned. However, if replacing the solenoid doesn't resolve the issue, you'll need to replace your tow truck winch.

Your Drum Stopped Spinning

If you've noticed that the cable drum won't turn, you'll need to have your tow truck winch inspected right away. If the cable won't turn, the cable won't move. There are two main reasons why the drum won't spin on your winch. The first problem involves the motor. If the drum won't spin, but you can't hear any motor noise, there's a good chance that the motor has failed. However, if the motor is running, but the drum isn't spinning, there's a good chance that the clutch has gone out on the motor. In either case, it might be time to replace your tow truck winch.

Your Motor Won't Activate

If you've discovered that the motor is no longer functioning on your tow truck winch, it's time to take a closer look at your winch. There are several reasons why your motor won't run. First, the wires and connections might be loose on the motor. If that's the case, you can have the issue repaired. Second, the solenoid, or motor switch, might have malfunctioned. These issues can also be repaired easily. However, if your motor continues to malfunction, it's time for a new winch for your tow truck.

Your Cable Snapped

Finally, if the cable on your tow truck winch has snapped, and it was already frayed, you can replace the cable. However, if the cable has snapped and this has become a recurring issue, you need to invest in a new winch. When your tow truck winch is functioning properly, the cable shouldn't snap, especially if it's not old, damaged, or overworked. To prevent further issues with the cable, have your tow truck winch replaced right away.
